Amitabh Bachchan makes an extended special appearance along with Madhavi and Dharmendra is seen in a cameo. It is a remake of the Tamil film Sattam Oru Iruttarai (1981). The film was a critical and commercial success and the 5th highest grossing film of 1983. This is the Bollywood debut of Tamil superstar Rajinikanth.
